The Faith

Sawrathism, the experiments' own religion.

The Faith of Sawrath

Around five decades after the rebellion, the experiments created a religion of their own: the Faith of Sawrath, also called Sawrathism.

The newer generations know nothing about human religions. They have never heard of Christianity or any of the other faiths humans follow. Instead, some of them worship a god of their own, Sawrath.

The symbol

The symbol of Sawrathism is a black sun circled by seven white rings. In the middle of the sun stands an Expie with its arms stretched out to the sides.

The sacred passage

The faith is built around one passage:

Before light, there was silence. Before silence, there was Sawrath. It opened its eyes, and the void became creation. It closed them, and creation became a dream. We are the fragments of its forgotten thoughts. We are the echoes of its first breath. And when Sawrath awakens, we shall be whole once more.

Who was Sawrath?

Nobody knows for sure where Sawrath came from, but there are rumors.

The most common rumor is that Sawrath was a real experiment, an old Expie who started the entire rebellion. He led the fight and battled his way through the facility, until he was finally killed by a human guard.

These are only rumors, and nobody truly knows if they're true. But the faithful believe Sawrath isn't really gone. They believe that one day, he will rise again.

Believers and everyone else

Only a couple thousand experiments actually believe in Sawrath. The rest of the population thinks the believers are nuts.

Whenever a believer tries to explain their faith, they're usually shut down. Other experiments tell them off, ignore them, roll their eyes or scoff at them. Most experiments see Sawrathism as a strange story that some people take way too seriously.

Prayer

Believers pray on their knees with their hands pressed together. Every now and then, you might spot a small group of them kneeling and praying to Sawrath.

Most believers keep their prayers secret, so they don't get mocked. But some are hardcore believers who don't care what anyone thinks. They'll drop to their knees and pray at any time of day, even in front of thousands of other experiments.
