The facility today

The current year is 2100. The facility now runs completely on its own, without any of its former human workers. The experiments run their own systems of education, jobs, security, discipline and population control. They have far more freedom than they ever did under the humans, but life inside the facility is still structured and strict. Nobody inside has any contact with the outside world, and the experiments work hard to keep it that way.

Terms

Experiment / Sawian

A member of the species. Every experiment in this AU is a SAW-01, also called an Expie. No other variants exist.

Staff

Experiments who hold jobs inside the facility. Every single worker is an experiment now. There are no human workers left.

The leader

The head of the entire pack. The experiments vote for their leader, similar to how Americans elect a U.S. president. The leader has the highest level of access in the facility and is the only one allowed on N5, N9 through N11, and N13.

The Grey Planet

A completely separate, distant planet, not part of Earth. It is wild and unforgiving, with layers of underground caves, hostile wildlife and a whole ecosystem of its own. Experiments were once sent there to dig for lost tech. The facility itself sits underground on Earth.

The company and its funding

The company that created the experiments, VIRASCO Biotechnologie, was secretly started and funded in 1999 by a group of shareholders.

The United States government knows absolutely nothing about the company or its experiments. The whole operation is hidden and kept off the radar, so it can run without drawing any outside attention.

The facility was first built to create and study the experiments. After the rebellion, it became their home. To this day, the original shareholders are still funding the company. They have no idea that the humans who ran it are dead.
